Inspired by the childhood memory of a piggy bank, penny jars and the associated hope of saving enough to buy that long-desired object of fancy: this installation uses collected coins to create a symbol of “hope”. The coins, though of identical value, display colour variation - the darker coins represent used and collected coins whereas the lighter shades are brand new ones. The darker coins were purposely discolored using rusting techniques to make them look as if they were found and kept for a longer period of time.
